There is so much info about Robbie that there's little point me trying to add anymore (use links). So I will just give you a brief rundown of my involvement with Robbie. The first tracks were a series of remixes for his Redroad Ensemble album on Capitol Records. Shortly afterwards, myself and drummer/percussionist, Rupert Brown began experimenting with some rhythm parts in the vibe of the ensemble, this soon grew into a pretty cool track. All I needed was the man himself to turn it into something great. A few weeks later Robbie arrived in London, and so I sent a tape to his hotel to see if he liked the vibe. He did! The next night Robbie came over to the studio and we began jamming with the track. Robbie scribbled some lyrics, and then a few vocal passes, then some guitar (I was enjoying this!). After 3 or 4 hours we both felt there was enough material to work with, so we bid each other farewell! Next month I sent the final mixes to LA where they were greeted with much delight from Robbie and Capitol. This was my first proper collaboration with Robbie. Ten years on and many tracks later (and a Grammy nomination for my work on his last solo album) I've just finished working for Robbie again, this time producing the first single by the band Eastmountainsouth on DreamWorks records. One of my all time favourite moments? Getting stoned and drinking fine wine with Robbie in my home studio. Watching him laying down guitar and vocal tracks for our tune "unbound". Magic. Robbie is a top man, always encouraging and consistently passionate about the music.
